Connect The Dottes

Connects the Dottes is an association of community leaders connecting groups across the county who are interested in Substance Abuse Prevention. The coaltion is working on issues such as:
   

 

 


Working together for effective substance abuse prevention for Wyandotte County

Underage Drinking- helping to reduce the sale of alcohol to minors, increasing the age at which minors begin drinking, and decreasing the amount of binge drinking.

• Rush Center Training for the faith community*

• Al's Pals Training for pre-school teachers representing the Turner School District, EOF Headstart and Uncle Sam's Academy.Initial training was held in 2005 and has been held every year since.

• Drug Endangered Children - Children living in houses where drugs are being used or manufactured face different dangers than "children in need of care" (CINC). These dangers and a design for treatment is being outlined in a DEC protocol.

• Grassroots Leadership Training - On-going monthly workshops that teach strategies designed to empower neighborhood residents to resolve problems and to promote a safe, clean and caring environment.

*The mission of the Rush Center of the Johnson Institute is: to engage and assist people of faith in the development of caring
communities that promote prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) abuse and where recovery from addiction is valued
and supported

RPC is a Social and Rehabilitation Services Access Point

The Regional Prevention Center, located on the campus of the Kansas City Kansas Community College, is a certified Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services Access Point. That means that you can come to the RPC to get help with forms necessary to access SRS services.

Some of those services are: Healthwave insurance for children; food stamps, child care, child support, cash for families and cash for disabled adults.
